So I received this text message on Friendship Day. It wasn't from a friend. It was one of those forwards from an unknown number. The, ''Hi Dear May this Diwali light up your life like you have lighted (!) mine'' type of texts. Those nuggets of sheer genius which aren't really messages so much as the official address of where the English language went to die. Messages made even more excruciating by the use of words that aren't even short for anything, but have randomly amended spellings to make them slightly...what, cooler? You know the kind; where a perfectly good 'my' is made 'ma' or of course, the long form, 'mah'.

This friendship day message I received was an epic example of all these boo boos, and more.
It said, "A Frnd Is like Blood, Though They r nt Seen over skin, They come out wen v r wounded"HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY!

Once one gets over the gory imagery this message brings, one is struck (very hard) by the jarring capitals letters mid sentence, the painful short forms, the lack of space after the closing quotation marks just before the friendship day greeting is YELLED out, the use of quotation marks to add authenticity and credibility to the quote..


As a certified SMS hoarder, I tell you sincerely, this one's a keeper.
